Meet Richard Lusmore

I am a creative professional with a passion for words.

A published author, I am now forging a career in proofreading and copy editing, having recently qualified with a level 4 diploma graded ‘distinction’ from the College of Media & Publishing. 

I am currently working towards Intermediate level as a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading. To that end, I have already undertaken freelance work with Pitch Publishing, the UK's leading independent sports publisher, for which I have received glowing testimonials from the authors with whom I worked. 

Although relatively new to this as a career, I have years of experience in sports-related writing, from weekly match reports for local papers to editing football fanzines and match programmes. I have also written pieces of historical interest, and I am a member of the British Society of Sports History. 

My new career combines skills I honed in almost 40 years in the oil and gas sector (good communication, attention to detail, the ability to work as part of a team but also using individual initiative when required) with those qualities I have brought to four decades of writing (fluency in English, good use of grammar, consistency of format and above all, a high level of accuracy).

Away from my work, I'm a keen sports fan (in particular, Hull City, Hull KR and Yorkshire CCC) and I've been involved with my local village football club at Easington United since 1988. My other interests include walking, listening to music, and settling down with a nice drop of red wine on cold winter nights to watch the latest Scandi-noir offering. I have a keen interest in history (local, social and military) and over the years have also developed an appreciation of fine ales. 

Born and bred in the beautiful East Riding of Yorkshire, I am married, with two daughters and a very chilled-out cocker spaniel completing the family household.
